My home has only been 'finished' for a year but yesterday I was styling a property that made me want to change it all. Why? Because it was all white and it reminded me just how peaceful a white home makes me feel.
Yes, I know, I don't exactly have a lot of colour going on anyway, but I can't help feeling that I strayed too far from my ideal during the decorating process. My problem is that I do actually like colour - I just can't live with it!
The flat I was styling, in Wandsworth, was so light and airy that it made me feel calm yet energised at the same time. Admittedly it was spacious and uncluttered too but it just made me so darn happy!
Some may think white is boring and unadventurous, and yes, sometimes it can be, but done properly it's still my favourite colour to decorate with. The trick is to layer up with different textures and when it comes to white there are four people in my book who know how to get it exactly right:
PAUL MASSEY (PHOTOGRAPHER)
ATLANTA BARTLETT (STYLIST AND AUTHOR)
RACHEL ASHWELL (STYLIST AND AUTHOR)
And, I like to think...yours truly!
What do you think of white? Dull and Boring or Pale and Interesting?
