NEXT SEASON IS SET TO BE A CELEBRATION OF COLOUR, LIFE AND HAPPINESS
WITH A TREND TO SUIT EVERY PERSONALITY
For the last year or so the Colour Experts at Crown Paints have been busily beavering away to determine the biggest trends for the forthcoming season and last week saw the result of all their hard work with the launch of their Colour Influences for Spring/Summer 2017.
They are separated in to three categories: 'Free Spirit', 'Stillness' and 'Fusion'. Let's go through them one by one, starting with Free Spirit.
This is a playful and energetic palette which sits somewhere between kitsch and cool. Individuality is to be celebrated and the colours - deep corals, bubblegum pinks and uplifting turquoise - are perfect for offsetting quirky accessories. Think gold pineapples, flamingoes, beach balls and cocktails with little umbrellas. As Neville Knott, Colour Consultant Ireland explains:
"[Free Spirit is] a non-conforming, fun trend evoking an atmosphere of faded '80s Miami glam,"
Where's Don Johnson when you need him?
In direct contrast to Free Spirit there is Stillness, a palette of sophisticated serenity. It has been precisely curated to invoke feelings of wellbeing and mindfulness as Kathryn Lloyd, Crown Colour Specialist, explains:
"An influence designed to anchor us in the present moment, Stillness is intended to induce a relaxed mood."
Inspired by ethereal landscapes this palette works well with nature - bring greenery inside, use pared back, simple furniture and style with rustic accessories.
Fusion is bold Bohemianism at its very best. A riot of colour, this scheme is not for the faint-hearted but one you can really have some fun with. Crown Colour Consultant Judy Smith says,
"The inspiration for Fusion comes from marrying traditional ethnic design with bold colour, multi-layering for a contemporary look."
Walls are saturated in the rich vibrant hues reminiscent of India at Holi - strong teal, zesty chartreuse and hot pink are a winning combination for creating an exotic vibe. I love it!
So there we have it. I'm looking forward to Spring already and I'll definitely be finding something to paint with Fuschia Fizz!
