There was much excitement earlier this week when esteemed interiors photographer Rachael Smith arrived to take pictures of my home for 25 Beautiful Homes magazine. Having spent a frantic couple of days putting together the finishing touches (massive thanks to Bloke Friend for doing a sterling job as usual) and giving everything a thorough clean it was Photo Ready. Now that the door is on the washing machine, blinds are up and paintwork has been touched up it finally feels complete. And it's never been so tidy!
Although I'm not allowed to share the professional pics until after the issue has been published later this year, I did take some of my own snaps which I'm rather pleased with so I thought I'd share a few before's and after's. Perhaps the biggest transformation is the bedroom which was formerly the kitchen. I'm really pleased with how this has turned out - I knew I wanted this room to be white as for me that is calming and restful but I've added texture with the furniture and textiles to give it a bit of a Boho feel. In my new found guise as an abstract painter I'm also working on a piece of art to go above the bed!
Moving the kitchen in to the front room was always the intention when I was planning the refurb but it has worked even better than I thought. It doesn't encroach in to the room too much and I love that it's all in a line with no awkward corners.
It has been my dream ever since I was young to have a home studio where I can paint and at last I have one! The second bedroom is my work room but I have separated it so that I also have a cosy snug area at the back which makes for a lovely spot to soak up the evening sun.
It's really beginning to feel like home and I think it reflects who I am which is what a home should be. Now I have to start work on the outside!
