So here we are, the final instalment of this trend miniseries or, the final round of my 'guess the trend' game. Am I winning? In this last post I'm taking a punt on the motif/s that I think we'll be seeing a lot of this year.
Over the last few years we've brought the tropics (palms, pineapples, flamingoes) and the desert (cacti) in to our homes and I'm predicting that in 2018 we'll be taking a walk on the wild side.
Safari animals feature prominently in a lot of the new collections but here I'm focussing on the big cats. Tigers, leopards and cheetahs adorn wallpaper and soft furnishings, not to mention countless home accessories.
There is a definite shift towards maximalism this year and a move back to luxurious, opulent interiors. Bold prints are making a statement and the more crazy and quirky the accessories the better.
It's certainly not a trend for the faint-hearted. More is most definitely more with this one and anything goes. Personally I think I'd be open to a spot of leopard print (pun intended) but I draw the line at a full menagerie of kitsch!
Accessories, clockwise from top left: Sabre Large Velvet Cushion Midnight - £195, Cheetah bookends - £375, Sabre Large Velvet Cushion Pink - £195, Cheetah Lampstand with Daley black shade - £658.75, all House of Hackney.
So there you have it, my four trends to follow for 2018. Will you be giving any of them a try?
