I am a relative latecomer to the stylists' not-so-secret one stop prop shop. I discovered HomeSense last year when I had to soft-furnish a two bedroom flat for under £200, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by what it had to offer. Now, even better news is that I don't have to trek all the way to Lakeside to get my accessories fix because a new store has just opened up 10 minutes away in the ever-growing Greenwich Shopping Park.
This is actually a bit of a misnomer (I suspect to make it sound more upmarket) for the Greenwich Shopping Park is actually just off the A2 in Charlton. Pedantics aside I popped in last week, just for a look, you know, and somehow came out £50 poorer.
For those who don't know HomeSense is part of the TK Maxx family so you can expect to find lots of brand names at up to 60% off the RRP. Stock changes regularly so it's best to buy something when you see it rather than waiting until you come back (which you will). When I visited I spied some gorgeous Clarissa Hulse bedding, lots of Le Creuset kitchenware and even some yummy Prestat chocolates. I had to step away from the glass kilner jars and fancy looking oils and vinegars but I did pick up a lovely oak bread board for £7.99.
One thing I like about HomeSense is that I think no matter what your style - whether rustic simplicity or hotel chic - there's bound to be something to suit. For me, I always find lots of lovely Indian style bits and bobs from hammered metal bowls and buddha statues to gorgeous block print effect textiles (like the throw below, which I couldn't resist for £14.99!)
My pièce de résistance though has to be these fab cushions which are the perfect shade of pink for my living room.
You're guaranteed to find what you're looking for at one of the 44 nationwide stores, and probably a lot that you're not, so go prepared. You know it makes Sense.
