Having worked with the stylists at Next on the famous Directory for several years, I'm always intrigued to see what the inspirations are for each season. Moving away from vintage and industrial, the Spring/Summer 2016 catalogue's lead story is focussed around The Orient.
The Nihon collection is an elegant mix of subtle blues, cool silvers, watercolour florals and delicate geometrics. Although an unusually dark palette for Spring, it is balanced with clean lines and simple shapes.
I've put together a moodboard of some of my favourite pieces from the collection to show how it could work in a living room:
Clockwise from top left:
Milano 3-seat sofa in dark teal - £850, Ombre wallpaper - £15 per roll, Framed Buddha head (large) - £45, Cream blossom in ceramic vase - £18, Osbourne console in black - £350, Geo jacquard cushions in teal and silver - £20, wool Nara floral rug - from £95, paint in (l-r) Silver Grey, Soft Duck Egg and Spring Lagoon - all £16 for 2.5 litres.
So, what do you think? Will you be going mental for Oriental?
